LMS Athletics 2022-23

Welcome to Leopard Athletics!

Lewis Middle School recognizes that competition at the highest level demands a commitment of time and energy from student-athletes not normally required of other students. Subsequently, we provide a variety of support services and resources to assist student-athletes with their academic success, personal well-being, individual development, and preparation for future endeavors. Our programs aim to impart important life skills and promote the development of good character. Our commitment to excellence makes us Lewis Leopards!

Middle School Athletics
Athletics, whether team-based or individual, provide a variety of benefits - it's more than just physical activity! Participation in sports helps build self-esteem & self-confidence, motivates teens to excel academically, and it improves social skills. Sports participation also teaches teens the benefits of hard-work, goal-setting, and the value of commitment & practice.

Physical Activity & Nutrition
Physical activity is the most obvious benefit of sports participation. Sports practice and games provide an opportunity for exercise that can help keep teens in shape and healthy. Proper nutrition is needed. Additionally, an increase in physical activity is proven to increase academic learning. It is also a time of teambuilding and fun!

Social Skills
Sports participation helps teens develop social skills that will benefit them throughout their entire lives. They learn to interact not only with other teens, but also with older individuals in their coaches and sports officials. Teens learn leadership, team-building, and communication skills that will help them in school, their future career, and in their personal relationships.
